After the debt ceiling catastrophe, Ron Paul has surged in polls, as he once again predicted the weakening of our economy if we raised the debt ceiling. Faith in the dollar has declined tremendously, China is begging for reform to the United States' main currency, and our credit rating has officially dropped.

All of these were obvious to come for those who study Austrian economics; as Keynesian economics has proven an inaccurate model of economics repeatedly. But, now that everyone has seen once again that the Obama administration was wrong, along with the majority of Congress, Ron Paul has seen a rapid surge in polling numbers.

In the most recent Rasmussen Poll, Ron Paul is placed as a frontrunner in third place for Ames, trailing only Bachmann and Romney by a small margin.

Despite the prolonging of an economic crisis through the new debt ceiling agreement, this issue seems to have been quite beneficial to Paul's campaign and another proving platform for free market economics.

With Ames only a few days away, be sure to vote in the poll to the left on how you think Ron Paul will fare in the actual Ames Straw Poll.

CNN has just reported that Ron Paul has received one of the most influential endorsements in Iowa. Cory Adams, Republican Chairman of Story County, Iowa has placed his support entirely behind Ron Paul.

This is a key endorsement, since the first major straw poll is being held in Ames, which is a part of Story County. The Ames straw poll is thought to be the first true measure of the set of candidates' electability. Cory Adams is a very influential political figure, and being in Story County, it is certain that Paul will benefit from this endorsement.

Adams' reasoning behind is support follows: "I try to go for the candidates that line up mostly with the values, the principles of the [nation's] founders... Out of all the candidates in this cycle, I found Ron Paul to be the one with the longest, most consistent voting record to back up those principles and concepts."

It is important to also mention that Paul received another Iowa endorsement from Iowa Representative, Jason Schultz.  Paul is widely known for his strict Constitutional views, and this is proving to gain popularity, as he has locked up two significant Iowa endorsements so far.
